Crusader Ejection Series (Page 6)

This final picture in the remarkable series shows the broken Crusader where it came to rest.

Many of you have asked if Mike survived the accident. We are pleased to report that thankfully, he did survive. Best recollection is that his most significant injury was a shattered pelvis.

This rare sequence was taken by a local Japanese resident who developed and mailed them to the squadron's parachute loft for review. Where else in the world would you find a armed shutterbug ready to take these pictures but the end of Atsugi's runway in the '60s. Even more astounding is (as you may have noticed) the presence of another photographer between THIS photographer and the crash site in two pictures. Cold War?
