Here, Mike has managed to put his hands up to protect his face as the seat begins to separate. The Time Release Mechanism (TRM) has released the drogue shackle and it has begun to pull the main chute out of the pack. The TRM has also released the leg restraint lines and the survival kit latches. This has allowed Mike to start forward away from the seat. Between Mike and the seat his parachute pack has been freed from the seat (also by the TRM). The survival kit box can be seen attached to Mike's lower back area.
